Modular, scalable, and meticulously documented. This is a hands-on show: visitors are meant to move, crouch, peer through eyepieces and shift position until the work resolves. Every piece is built and protected to survive that — and to keep surviving it, thousands of times a day.

Visitors finish the exhibition having learned how perception can be engineered, then take a piece of it home and paint the illusion themselves.

About this exhibition

Point of View: Out of the Unseen is a turnkey touring exhibition of over fifty scientific artworks by British–South African artist and engineer Jonty Hurwitz and Dr. Yifat Davidoff, produced by their London studio Sentient Art. It is designed for science museums, science centres and universities: a museum books it as a single package — artworks, crating, interpretation, install support, media and shop merchandise — needs roughly 500 m², and installs it in seven to ten days.

The works are built from real scientific and mathematical principles rather than illustrating them: anamorphic sculpture that resolves only from a single viewpoint or in a cylindrical mirror, nano sculpture at the scale of a human hair, polargraph drawings and large-scale installations. The exhibition has been seen by more than a million visitors, with host venues including the Exploratorium in San Francisco, Liberty Science Center in New York, Science Museum Oklahoma, the Bloomfield Science Museum in Jerusalem, Museo Internacional del Barroco in Puebla, the Macau Museum of Art, Science Centre Singapore and the Museum of Illusions in Prague.
