Arabesque

For as long as I can remember, dance has been a deep and fundamental part of my life. My mother and sister have always had a passion for ballet and I spent so many long childhood days somehow floating around that scene. Somehow unwittingly it evolved into something I so deeply appreciate in adulthood . What can I say… I’ve been know to dance a bit over-enthusiastically at festivals, full moon parties, raves, burns, weddings and bar mitzvahs in my day. I’ve been know to be politely asked to leave group dance sessions for a general lack of ability, albeit with high enthusiasm levels.

So when my galleries and wife both asked for a dancer… I was inspired by the challenge. I started the process pondering myself dancing… but the prospect of a sculpture of me dancing didn’t inspire my children! Next stop, my father (79 years old) offered to pose in a portrait of him doing ballet. That didn’t fly either. So here we have it. The ballerina. Arabesque.
